You don’t know what love is

Until you’ve learned the meaning of the blues

Until you’ve loved a love you’ve had to loose

You don’t know what love is”

— Chet Baker

Love break is one of the most painful emotional experiences in life. Getting over that pain is a great challenge for the affected. Those who take things lightly recover from the break-up soon whereas highly sensitive persons take many years to forget about the past.

The Museum of Broken Relationships

A way to heal the wound caused by love is to destroy all those lovey dovey things that remind one of that lost lover. But the Museum of Broken Relationships says, “Don’t do it – one day you will be sorry.” The museum, which is the winner of the EMF Kenneth Hudson Award 2011 for Most daring, innovative European Museum Project, 2011 keeps calling for those poignant things that have a sad love story behind them. Anyone in this world can send their love mementos to be displayed in the exhibition, which have the theme of failed relationships.

The July 31st edition of Pune Times quoted a few Indian celebs as mentioning the following things that they would like to donate to the Museum of Broken Relationships, to be showcased in London on August, 2011.

“I would like to donate my ex-boyfriend because he is a habitual offender.” — Sophie Choudry, Actress

“I would like to donate a smile and a beer to raise a toast to my freedom from all the relationships that were not meant to be.” — Sumeet Raghavan, Actor

“I would like to donate a mop because some people may get sentimental and start crying all over the museum floor making it wet. When I go there I don’t want to slip on anyone’s tears.” — Raju Srivastav, Comedian

Articles such as a kerchief, key-chain, teddy bear, wrist watch, pendant, ring etc that remind of one’s ex-lover are of great value. They are not to be destroyed but have to be showcased as priceless possessions, because love is divine, either is it broken or living. This is the message that the Museum of Broken Relationships conveys to all those who are/were in love.
